MINIMUM SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system. 133 MHz or higher
processor. At least 32 Mb RAM. 8x (or better) CD-ROM. 800 x 600
display capable of displaying High Color, 16 bit color. 16-bit
sound card.
TO VIEW THE PORTFOLIO
1) Put the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
2) For best performance, quit all other applications prior to
running this program, and set your monitor to 800 x 600 resolution
with Thousands of Colors.
3) Double click on the Start.exe icon within the Drew Struzans
Star Wars CD-ROM.
HOW TO NAVIGATE THIS CD-ROM
After launching the Start.exe icon, the portfolio will take a few
seconds to load. You will then see an animated open leading up
to the main menu. To skip the animated open, click anywhere on
the screen once the animation has started. The main menu has
seven animated buttons on the right side of the screen. As you
roll your cursor to the buttons, the animation will stop, and when
you position your cursor over a button, a highlight will appear
around it. Click on the button to enter that section.
The Drew's World section of the portfolio, has another menu which
also has buttons on the right side, which when clicked, will take
you into that section of the portfolio.
Whenever you roll your mouse over an object, and it shows a
highlight around it, the item can be clicked. For example, in the
scrolling menus of art, when you roll your mouse over an item, and
click it, it will bring up a larger image of the art, along with
additional information pertaining to it.
Other buttons used in the portfolio include:
BACK - When used on a scrolling menu (such as in the Movie
Posters, Book Covers, Sketches, and Special Projects areas), this
will advance you backward on the menu. If you hold down your
mouse button, you will continually advance on the menu until you
release the mouse button, or reach the start of the menu. On
non-scrolling screens, the Back button will bring you to the
previous screen.
CREDITS - This button will present you with a list of the people
who created this CD-ROM.
FORWARD - When used on a scrolling menu (such as in the Movie
Posters, Book Covers, Sketches, and Special Projects areas), this
will advance you forward on the menu. If you hold down your mouse
button, you will continually advance on the menu until you release
the mouse button, or reach the end of the menu. On non-scrolling
screens, the Forward button will advance you to the next screen in
that section.
EXIT - This button will allow you to exit the program.
MENU - Will bring you back to the previous menu.
PREVIOUS MENU - This will bring you back to the previous menu.
PRINT - This button will allow you to print text interviews, and
the black and white artwork shown in the Coloring Book section.
When printing interviews, the entire text of the interview will be
printed.
SCREEN SHOW - This will bring you to a screen show of all artwork
in that section, with narration by Drew Struzan. Screen shows
appear throughout many sections of this portfolio.
WITH MUSIC - This button, in the Step-by-Step section, will allow
you to view the steps in creating an artwork, at your leisure,
with music. The back and forward arrow buttons will allow you to
advance to the next step, or repeat the previous one.
WITH NARRATION - This button, in the Step-by-Step section, will
allow you to hear Drew narrate how he created an artwork. The
back and forward arrow buttons allow you to skip ahead, or repeat
a step in creating the artwork. When the arrows are clicked, the
audio may sound clipped as you are jumping to the section of the
soundtrack, which matches that visual.
ZOOM - This button will allow you to view an enlarged version of
the artwork.
PRINTING
Two interviews have a print button, which will print the entire
interview. Clicking on this print button will bring up the
standard Windows print dialogue boxes. In the Coloring Book
section, each artwork has a print button. Clicking on any of
these will bring up the standard Windows print dialogue boxes.
